Catching Up With Tom James

In late April, Mark Smith was pleased to once again meet with Tom James, Chairman Emeritus of Raymond James Financial, along with other members of Raymond James leadership. They met for breakfast during the recent Raymond James Conference, Elevate, in Las Vegas, NV. Mark is grateful for his long-standing relationship with Mr. James and their numerous discussions about how to help further the industry.

Welcome, Tyler!

We would like to extend a warm welcome to Tyler Schaefer, who joined the team in February as an Operations Specialist. He holds a wide range of responsibilities helping the on-boarding of new clients and the maintenance of existing client accounts. He loves spending time with his wife, Katie, and their little pup, Dave. He also enjoys golfing, playing softball and volleyball, and searching for new breweries/eateries to try. You will also find him rooting for any of my local Wisconsin sports teams.

Serving the Invisible Disabilities Association

Amber Adams and Drew Barnes are serving as Young Professional Co-chairs for Invisible Disabilities Association’s (IDA) 12th annual awards gala “Invisible No More - The Reveal” on Oct. 18, 2019. Young Professional Gala Chairs help foster excitement and engagement with IDA and the people they serve who live daily with invisible disabilities, illness and pain. Amber and Drew will have the opportunity to draw on their personal and business influence networks to garner support for IDA from fellow young professionals in Colorado and throughout the nation for this year’s Gala and beyond.

You can learn more about IDA by watching the Invisible No More video.  Learn about the Gala or register to attend at https://invisibledisabilities.org.

Making a Difference With Friends

Drew Barnes and his wife discovered that while they can help others on their own, they can make an even bigger difference with friends. They formed a group of close friends to pool their money so they can donate to causes important to them. The group doesn’t use the money to support any established charitable organizations or nonprofits. Their goal is to have a direct impact on the people in their community. As Drew explains, “We make direct donations to individuals and/or families who are in need, whether it is help with medical bills, education expenses, or simply treating a family who has been having a hard time to dinner. It’s incredible the impact you can make in people’s lives.”

Hello, Mickey!

Jake Jaegle and his family visited Disneyland in Anaheim, California, in February. The trip was their son, Cooper’s, first visit to see Mickey and, “He sure did have a blast,” Jake says. Ask Jake about his time there but beware - he says he’ll talk your ear off and has a million photos to share!

Exploring the National Parks

Alexa Kane, her husband Matt and baby Patrick recently took a nine-day road trip through Utah and Arizona, hitting four National Parks (Bryce Canyon, Zion, Grand Canyon & Arches) along the way, in addition to Horseshoe Bend and Grand Falls. Their adventure also included a visit to Alexa’s brother and his wife, who live in Flagstaff. “We had an amazing time and can’t wait to take Patrick to more National Parks!”

Exploring England

“A great trip overall,” is how Drew Harper describes his recent adventure in England. He visited the cities of London, Canterbury, Windemere and York. Favorite sights and activities included: Parliament, Big Ben, the British Museum, Buckingham Palace, Hampton Court Palace, Shakespeare’s Globe, the Tower of London, Canterbury Cathedral, hiking in the beautiful Lake District, Clifford’s Tower and York Minster.
