Why did you choose this profession?
We didn’t have a lot of money growing up, and I wanted to do more for myself. When I was 16, I opened my first Roth with the money I earned as a soccer referee. Since then, I have enjoyed managing money. It’s fun to help people reach their goals. I’ve learned that there are so many ways to help our clients beyond investments by asking questions about taxes, estate planning and insurance.
What drives you professionally?
Every person’s situation is unique. It gives us the opportunity to solve their problems. It’s fun and challenging to find solutions. I like our team approach. It’s not just me; I have other professionals in the firm I can talk to and use as a resource. We’ve all learned from Mark’s experience.
As a female senior consultant, my niche is women in transition. Historically, men have managed household finances, so when there is a death or divorce, women have to step into roles they often know little or nothing about. We educate women on the basics: how the market works, our philosophies, and setting long-term expectations. Women like working with other women. There’s more of an understanding of their goals.
I’m excited about our quarterly women’s events for clients and their guests. These events are designed to be educational and fun. It gives us a chance to get to know them and for them to get to know us. We’ve seen our clients build great friendships through the connections they’ve made at these events.
If we ran into you on the weekend, you’d be…
With my husband, Matt, our son, Patrick, and our Belgian Malinois, Oliver. We love to hike and camp and have already taken Patrick to seven national parks.
I played hockey from 5th grade through college. Matt and I still play on a team in Westminster.
