Why did you choose this profession?
I could have chosen the corporate route, but I was attracted to personal financial planning because it’s practical and applies to everyone. We all use aspects of financial planning every day.
What drives you professionally?
Our clients are the best. We genuinely adore them. The relationships we build with them are so important. You’re the first person they call whether there’s a divorce, a death, or a success. Each client has a unique situation.
This profession is about solving problems, and I never see the same problem twice. I learn something new every day. There’s so much nuance to everything. I like cracking the code.
I love helping people develop a “save yourself” mentality versus a “fix your mistakes” approach. I like to start working with clients as early as possible to help them get started on the right path. I enjoy educating people and teaching them how to save and invest for their goals.
Helping educate women is very rewarding. When I work with clients, I make a point to address the women first and include them in the conversation. In many situations, I see financial professionals speak only to men. I want women to be a part of the process and develop their understanding early. It’s so important to their future.
If we ran into you on the weekend, you’d be…
Working with dogs. I foster two retired racing greyhounds each year through a local adoption group. We help them find their forever homes.
I was born in Colorado and can’t think of a better place to live. I also love swimming and swim at least two miles a week.
