Why did you choose this profession?
In high school, I knew I liked people and numbers. I shadowed people in different professions: an actuary, a realtor, an accountant, an attorney, and an investment advisor. My dad was an engineer, so I knew what that looked like. I had a college savings plan, mutual funds, and was interested in investing. I think about how that has always been in my personality and nature.
What drives you professionally?
I’m a learner and a teacher, and I enjoy helping people. I always want to learn something new. The CFA program was a lot to get through, and the CFA Institute puts out a lot of great material to learn. I try to take complex information and make it easier for people to understand. I’m always working on ways to creatively explain the complicated concepts to clients in the way that works for them so they can understand them.
I enjoy getting to know my clients and forming deeper relationships. I also want to get to know and understand the next generation. What drives them and is important to them? Learning more about other generations helps me customize how I deliver a message. I like to learn how someone wants to collect and hear information so I can ensure the message gets across to them.
I also enjoy working with our institutional clients. Even though it’s a different dynamic, those complexities and experiences enhance the advice and deliverables to our private wealth clients.
If we ran into you on the weekend, you’d be…
