Jake Jaegle started his career over a decade ago, first working for First Bank while in college in 2006. While working for First bank, he learned the entry nuances of financial services all the while supporting himself through college. Jake graduated with a Finance Degree in May, 2009 at the height of the Financial Crisis and the Great Recession. He then began working with First Western Trust Bank, a Private Trust Company where he initially continued with his banking responsibilities. Managing banking responsibilities for the institution, he grew the Boulder Deposit Base from $39 million to over $80 million within two and a half years. "It was an exciting time to manage deposits during the Great Recession as I needed to get my clients the highest yield possible meanwhile shielding their assets from default by strategizing FDIC Insurance Coverage," Jake reflects. He then took his career in the direction of Asset Management as an Internal Promotion allowed him to work directly under the Chairman and Portfolio Manager. Rebalancing portfolios, creating investment reviews, and conducting tax loss harvesting fostered his love for Holistic Financial Management. Jake then progressed professionally in obtaining the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation. Jake directly applied his CFP® at Personal Capital for 4 years as a Senior Financial Advisor. "I find it most rewarding being able to help clients navigate the Financial Planning waters," Jake notes. "I witnessed many people be so unsure where to start, how the pieces fit together, or what their legacy would mean for the future that when they finally see their plan come together, it is exciting and humbling."
Jake joined M.J. Smith & Associates in June 2018 as a Senior Financial Consultant. Jake works with clients by creating a holistic financial plan to help guide them to make informed decisions for their current financial needs and future goals. Jake's responsibilities include drafting comprehensive financial plans, modeling retirement projections, constructing portfolios and asset allocations, and planning around tax and estate concerns. He also serves on the firm's Investment Committee, assisting with investment research and due diligence.

As a Coloradan, Jake spends his free time in the mountains camping, hiking, and fishing with his family - Ellycia (wife), Cooper (son) and Thor (dog). Jake's family have a deep rooted love for the University of Colorado and be can seen at nearly every home football game.
Jacob holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Finance, from the University of Colorado and a Certificate of Personal Financial Planning from Metro State University is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™.
